Preview the National Liberty Museum’s year-long exploration of Freedom of Assembly with an engaging professional development workshop designed for educators. In collaboration with the Philadelphia Writing Project, a member of the Library of Congress Teaching with Primary Sources Consortium, this session explores strategies for teaching civic argument writing using primary sources. Participants will delve into the National Liberty Museum’s new content and analyze Library of Congress primary source documents to investigate how freedom of assembly has been enacted or restricted—especially in the lives of young people. Through hands-on activities and collaborative discussion, educators will learn practical methods for integrating civic argument writing into their classrooms, supported by a co-curated collection of curricular resources.
Pennsylvania educators are eligible for 3 hours of Act 48 credits. Certificates of completion will be provided for educators from other states, as needed.
